My Approach to Helping
Living in East Tennessee can be pretty tough for people who are viewed as "other" by many in this region. You may identify as part of the LGBT community, non-religious, part of the adoption community, survivor of sexual abuse,or a member of a racially marginalized community. Or you many be exploring being a new parent or partner in your life. I really enjoy working with people eager to explore their identity in ways that find balance and strength. My work in Internal Family Systems (IFS) has allowed me a way to facilitate change in a compassionate and non-threatening way. I find that real change in one's personal life can then effect change in the broader world. My intention is to work closely with others to facilitate that change. I invite you to contact me if you are looking for this kind of personal work.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Issues of identity especially interest me. "Identity" might be how a person defines a new stage of life, exploring gender issues, one's role in relationship (parent, partner, child, etc.). I have worked as an activist, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, an IFS trained therapist, and a Licensed Massage Therapist. My other interests include outdoor adventures. Whether it is kayaking or mountain biking, gardening or just sitting by the water, I find these things bring peace and balance to my life. These experiences have all played a part in understanding how important self-care, fun, and self-reflection are. I hope to be part of deep and long lasting change in individuals and the wider world.
