My approach to therapy is a direct interactive approach. We will have conversation, we will communicate with each other. It is important you find the right personality fit. I want people to feel comfortable in my office and with me. If you don't find I am the right fit for you, I will certainly help you to find the therapist that works with your needs. I work with the past, as our past often dictates how/why we act in certain ways in the present. If you are experiencing a relationship issue or difficulty at work, there may be some patterns in your life worth exploring. I do not believe I have all the answers. Therapy is a dedicated time for yourself, time to reflect and explore the things you would like to change in your life.
I often incorporate visualization exercises, breathing for relaxation and am able to do EMDR when appropriate.

More Info About My Practice

Many insurances are accepted at the in-network level. Sliding fee can also be discussed for those without insurance. Day and evening appointments are available during the week. In-home or phone appointments may be possible for the elderly or for others that cannot leave their home easily.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

The purpose of psychotherapy, in my opinion, is to explore what is and what is not working for you in life. It is a dedicated space to explore and gain insight into your patterns of behavior that might affect your life today. Together, as you learn about yourself, we will come up with some coping strategies or ways to change the undesirable behavior. I believe people may use a therapist at many times throughout their lives. They may come in for a specific problem then leave when that is resolved to return at a later date if other life stressors or mental health symptoms arise.
