My Approach to Helping

We all share a desire to be happy. At times, we are presented with unprecedented challenges that can obscure our path forward. These experiences can undermine trust in our ability to successfully navigate difficulties, and activate counterproductive coping strategies to manage overwhelming feelings of confusion, fear, and angst. Psychotherapy provides a collaborative environment in which to thoughtfully explore our responses to life's challenges, and deepen personal understanding to afford liberation from self-limiting patterns of thought and behavior. The steady support offered through the therapeutic alliance serves to relieve emotional distress, and awaken the courage for creating a fulfilling life guided by innate wisdom and self-awareness.

More Info About My Practice

I work mostly with adults in individual, couples, and some family therapy, and offer either short or long-term psychotherapy. My theoretical approach is based psycho-dynamic theory and embraces principles of mindfulness meditation for attending to challenging emotions and allowing for more comprehensive healing.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have maintained an independent practice for over 10 years, and am experienced in addressing behavioral, emotional, and relational concerns including, but are not limited to, the following: anxiety and panic disorders; depression; histories of trauma and abuse; issues from abandonment; life transition; loss and bereavement; relational and marital issues; and stress management.

My current fee per session ranges between $100-120. I participate with the following insurance companies: BCBS CareFirst (PPO only); Johns Hopkins Healthcare, and Tricare.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

My choice of vocation is one which brings me much joy and gratitude. I am told by those persons with whom I work that they feel comfortable confiding in me and that our sessions together generate significant improvement. I am passionate about helping others to progress and heal, and deeply respect anyone who wishes to share their personal journey with me. If you have questions, feel free to contact me. I look forward to speaking with you.
