My Approach to Helping
I am supportive and solution-focused in my approach to counseling. I respect that my clients are the experts on themselves and I feel honored to help them and motivate them toward positive change. A trusting relationship between counselor and client is a necessity for a successful outcome in counseling. I like to offer my clients a free 15-minute phone consultation to start, as I believe individuals should feel comfortable and confident with who they are choosing as their counselor.
More Info About My Practice
I accept all major credit cards, checks and cash at the time of service. I accept some insurance (please call).
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I feel particularly adept at counseling individuals with grief and loss. A loss can be anything from losing a loved one, a family pet, a job, one's physical well-being to a loss from divorce. I am experienced with treating depression, anxiety, fear, stress, and denial. Dealing with loss is a difficult time of transition and growth. I know firsthand what that is like and I can help you find the strength to visit your grief, yet also move forward.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
More than solid training in psychotherapy, I offer life experience. I have found that our relationships are the most integral part of life. How we treat others defines our life journey. I have learned the hard way the contributions necessary to a long, happy and successful marriage. Marriage is hard work but the most rewarding work you will ever do. I truly enjoy helping couples improve their relationships. My couples/marriage counseling is influenced by evidence-based research gathered by great relationship experts such as John Gottman, Sue Johnson and Gary Chapman.
