For many years, I have been helping children, teens, and adults find their path of happiness and success through traditional talk therapy, play therapy, and activity/art therapy. As a counselor, I strive to give clients a place to feel safe to process and work through hard times and struggles. These struggles may include anxiety, depression, divorce, school behaviors and social issues. A child's primary language is play. Children express themselves and work through their struggles through play. Giving children books, toys, art, sand and, most importantly, a safe and trusting place provides the opportunity for children to express themselves using their language. One of the most important aspects of working with children is working with the significant people in their lives, parents and schools. I offer parent trainings, consultations and school consultations/observations.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have had the privilege of working with children and adults who have experienced trauma/abuse and family crisis as a therapist for a local non-profit preschool and Children's Advocacy Center. Throughout this work I also had the opportunity to help children work through life stressors including divorce, anxiety, depression, and social skills training. I value working with parents and schools who are trying to find the path of success for children.

As part of my licensure and education, I have attended continuing education trainings in play therapy, family therapy, sand tray therapy, and trauma/crisis therapy.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

There comes a day when a person finds their passion and drive in life. For me, my passion is helping people find their path of happiness and success. I have chosen to be a Licensed Professional Counselor as a way to help people by giving them a safe, non-judgmental, trusting place for them to strive to meet their greatest potential. Seeing people succeed in finding who they are and working through life stressors that allow for them to move on to the next phase of their life is the most rewarding part of being a counselor. It's powerful to watch and hear children and adults tell their stories and process their experiences to find healing.
