My Approach to Helping
"If you continue to do what you have always done, there is no reason to expect your future to be different than your past." Successful therapy is about helping you to make changes to increase your independence to help you to manage your life more autonomously. My therapeutic approach is active and solution-focused. My clients often comment that I am highly interactive in providing them with focus and guidance to help speed them in overcoming their most critical issues.
More Info About My Practice
I work with adults and adolescents on a wide range of psychological, emotional, relationship, and trauma-based issues. Various studies show that the most important factor in healing is the client-therapist relationship. While my experience includes a range of therapeutic techniques, I believe that my greatest asset is the ability to quickly connect with my clients to develop a trusting, therapeutic connection that is the basis for positive change. In addition to traditional "talk therapy," I utilize a therapeutic toolkit that includes EMDR, HeartMath, the Sedona Method, as well as techniques that balance a person's energy system to promote psychological and emotional healing. These techniques often provide a more effective faster means to healing, whether used with traditional therapies or applied independently.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Seeking therapy is like quitting a terrible job or deciding to leave a bad relationship -- no one does it on time. If you are considering therapy, it means that a problem has been serious enough for long enough that you believe you need support. Also, people have various reasons for avoiding therapy. "I think I should be able to solve my own problems." ... "If I just wait a little longer, this problem may work itself out." If you knew what needed to be done to get past your current concenrs, you would have done so long ago. The cost of deciding not to seek help may be great, but there is little risk in seeing whether excellent support is available to help you through this time.
