What's My Approach to Therapy?
My approach to therapy is creative and collaborative. I believe each individual – no matter their age, sexuality, or gender identity – is unique and should have a therapist who is genuine, has unconditional positive regard, and has empathic understanding. In session, I will approach the client where they are and what they may currently be experiencing. My approach starts with building a positive, warm, and trusting relationship. This will provide a foundation of support, encouragement, and connection, and after that, the work can truly begin. I do not expect a client to work harder in our relationship than I am willing to do myself.
My work in mental health currently includes individuals from ages 11 to 75 and those in and out of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have worked with anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, life transitions, and trauma-related issues. I bring creativity, compassion, warmth, and a genuine desire to understand you in a safe, affirming, non-judgmental, and empowering environment.
