My Approach to Helping
Hi. My name is Beth Field and I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist in California. I have worked with individuals, families and couples with a wide range of concerns for over 20 years. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I received a BS in Psychology and received my MS in Counseling from San Diego State University. I would describe my approach as client-centered; providing an empathetic environment for clients to explore their deepest challenges in a safe place. I also incorporate a cognitive behavioral approach because I believe our thoughts have a direct impact on our feelings and behavior.
Through my work as a therapist, I have gained an understanding of how we often react to our life circumstances and feel challenged to make the changes we need to in order to improve our lives and relationships. I emphasize bolstering the skills that will aid in improving communication and establishing boundaries with those in our life, including ourselves. Among the concerns clients I have worked with include; anxiety, depression, parenting difficulties, loss, low self-esteem, and immobilizing frustration. Along with my husband, I have raised 3 sons through their youth, rebellion, and striving for independence.
I look forward to connecting with you and working together on the challenges you are facing.
