My Approach to Helping
I am a marriage and family therapist candidate. I obtained my master’s degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Azusa Pacific University in Southern California. My clinical training was focused on families, which encompassed working with children, adolescents, parents, couples, and individuals who struggled with trauma, depression, anxiety, maritalrelationship issues, women’s issues, sexual abuse, substance abuse, grief and loss, transitions, life-skills, parenting skills, suicidal ideation, and mood disorders. I also have research-based knowledge of postpartum depression as well as military couples and families who face unique challenges in today’s culture. In addition, I have extensive experience integrating faith with sound clinical therapeutic approaches when clients desire and believe in treating the whole person: mind, body, and soul.
When working with clients, I use multiple therapeutic modalities in order to collaborate and customize therapy to meet the needs of each individual. The therapeutic models I utilize include Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Strength Based approaches to assist clients in discovering confidence, hope, and direction, which is the catalyst to improved connection, engagement, and change.
I am dedicated to helping you find restoration and healing when life’s challenges and hardships occur. It can be difficult to navigate through obstacles on your own, and I find it a privilege to support you through your healing process towards a happier and healthier life. I will meet you where you are in your own unique situation with respect and compassion.
More Info About My Practice
Communication problems, sex, anger, even illness can contribute to problems in a marriage or relationship. To manage conflicts and stress, couples sometimes turn to marriage counseling or couples counseling to help heal the relationship. Marriage counseling, also called couples therapy or relationship counseling, helps couples, married or not, understand and resolve conflicts and improve their relationship. Marriage counseling gives couples the tools to communicate better, negotiate differences, problem solve and even argue in a healthier way. When couples enroll in marriage counseling, they are able to share their thoughts and express themselves in a safe, controlled environment. This allows both people to communicate more effectively, and the counselor can also give advice on how to heal and become stronger in the relationship with understanding and awareness of the other person’s attitude and feelings toward these challenging situations. Brightside Counseling Services can help you through your relationship concerns and provide you with a new sense of excitement and rebuild your intimacy.
We have experience working with children and adolescent and have training in play therapy.
