As of January 1, 2017, GoodTherapy.org, LLC is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Mental Health Practitioners as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed marriage and family therapists and licensed mental health counselors. This follows approval by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work, the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC), the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the American Psychological Association (APA).
This means beginning January 2017, licensing requirements for mental health practitioners in New York state will include department-approved continuing education. “GoodTherapy.org is proud to announce that we will be immediately ready to help our members meet that requirement,” said Kayti McRusso, one of GoodTherapy.org’s Continuing Education Coordinators. “Many of our live and archived CE web conferences will qualify for licensed marriage and family therapists and mental health counselors in New York state, to include two approved upcoming events in January alone.”
January 2017 will feature Kati Morton, LMFT for Ethics in Therapy: When Therapists Care Too Much and Ian Kerner, PhD, LMFT for The Art of Sex Therapy, Part II: Assessment and Intervention. Notable GoodTherapy.org continuing education events later in the year include Good Boundaries Free You: Boundary Development in Therapy with Sarri Gilman, LMFT, Using Technology to Identify, Manage, and Respond to Suicide Risk with Jonathan Singer, PhD, LCSW, and Vicarious Trauma: Day After Day, the Price Therapists Pay with Ellie Izzo, PhD, LPC
