My therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural and Solution Focused Therapy mixed with Positive Psychology. My therapeutic approach requires a person to focus on being in the present moment as well as changing negative patterns of thinking & feelings by changing distorted thinking.
"Everything in life is meaningless until we give it meaning;" and we filter our experiences through our thinking which then determines a person's feelings, choices and actions. Through therapy, I will help you develop the skills needed to change negative thought patters into healthy ones which in turn will allow you to feel better about yourself and your life.
I am also a certified SMART Recovery Facilitator (SMART), a Facilitator for Positive Parenting with a Plan, and I have a Certificate in Opioid Management Treatment (CAMH/U of Toronto).
I am so passionate about being a therapist, that I am continually studying for Continuing Education Credits and attending other activities (conferences, seminars) on topics related to mental health, addiction and chronic pain issues. I look forward to meeting with you to begin our journey together.

My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to provide you with the tools necessary to overcome whatever issue you may be presenting with in therapy. I see therapy much like climbing a mountain. I will teach you how to properly use the tools to journey up the mountain with you for a while and then you will go on your own. However, no fear. You will have the tools necessary to keep you safe. Sometimes you will hit a plateau however, this is ok. Mountain climbers even sleep on the sides of mountains when they become exhausted or darkenss falls. After you have rested for a while, you will start again. The good thing is that if you use these tools properly... you will never fall back to the bottom because everthing has been securely anchored into the mountain; awareness and knowledge is like that! Once you begin your journey of health and well-being, as long as you put forth the energy and actions, it is all up hill (or up the mountain). And when you finish one mountain, don't worry life has many more to give us. The good news, you have the proper tools to move forward!!!
