My therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, Mindfulness Therapy mixed with Positive Psychology. My therapeutic approach requires a person to focus on being in the present moment as well as changing negative patterns of thinking & feelings by changing distorted thinking.

"Everything in life is meaningless until we give it meaning;" and we filter our experiences through our thinking which then determines a person's feelings, choices and actions. Through therapy, I will help you develop the skills needed to change negative thought patters into healthy ones which in turn will allow you to feel better about yourself and your life.

I am also a certified SMART Recovery Facilitator (SMART), a Facilitator for Positive Parenting with a Plan, and I have a Certificate in Opioid Management Treatment (CAMH/U of Toronto).

I am so passionate about being a therapist, that I am continually studying for Continuing Education Credits and attending other activities (conferences, seminars) on topics related to any issue related to mental health, addiction and chronic illness & chronic pain. I look forward to meeting with you to begin our journey together.

More Info About My Practice

Change is NOT the problem, it is the "transition" to change that is so scary. Change is happening everyday in our lives, whether we accept it or not. For example, by not making a choice is a decision/choice in and of itself. So actively or passively we CAN CHANGE; by taking an affirmative step forward, you can experience healthy self-change or passively respond and remain stuck and unhealthy. Do you desire a life that is healthy or an unhealthy, the choice is your's to take. Begin to get control of your life! Call today!

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist is to provide you with the tools necessary to overcome whatever issue you may be presenting with in therapy. I see therapy much like climbing a mountain. I will teach you how to properly use the tools to journey up the mountain, while I will stay with you for a while, you will then go on your own. However, no fear. You will have the tools necessary to keep you safe. Sometimes you will hit a plateau, however, this is OK because Mountain climbers actually sleep on the side of mountain when they become exhausted or when darkness falls. After you have rested for a while, you will start climbing again. The good news is that if you use these tools properly... you will never fall back to the bottom because if everything has been securely anchored into the mountain, like real mountain climbers, those anchors you hit into the mountain to keep you safe while you are climbing remain in place so that even if you happen to slip and fall, these anchors will keep you from falling back to the ground; awareness and knowledge is like that! Once you begin your journey of health and well-being, as long as you put forth the energy and actions, it is all up hill (or up the mountain). And when you finish one mountain, don't worry life has many more waiting for us. The good news, you have the proper tools to move forward!!!
