My Approach to Helping
Hello, my name is Meg Nisbet and I am a licensed professional counselor a certified clinical trauma professional, and a certified clinical anxiety treatments professional. I believe that each person who has hope and tools can transform their lives. I am passionate about walking alongside people seeking change in their lives and moving forward to reach their goals.
I have experience with solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, compassion-focused therapy, and posttraumatic growth therapy. I integrate mind-body practices such as breathwork, grounding, and empowerment in working with clients.
I am comfortable working with a wide variety of people including men, women, LGBTQ+, Trans, ACEPolyamorykink, and those who feel they don't fit into most categories. I am comfortable working with people experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, grief, trauma, PTSD, domestic violence and child abuse.
I work to develop a trusting relationship that feels safe to say whatever is happening without fear of judgment or shaming. Also, there needs to be a bit of light hearted time within sessions, if possible.
It is what I was created to do and learning tools and new tools and new research drives me to find what will be helpful for clients to reach their goals. I continually strive to bring as much hope through education for each client as I can find so that each client feels they are gaining more control over their lives.
Therapy belongs to the person who comes in and helping a client set a goal that is specific, measurable and achievable is so important.
Intake can be daunting for many, so the first session is narrative that helps paint a picture of why client is seeking therapy.
