I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH #7262), who has been working in the counseling field for over 24 years (at Masters level 18 of those years) and who has been in private practice for 10 years. In my private practice, I work with various different people including adults, children, families and couples. Although most of my clients have abuse and addiction and trauma issues, I additionally work with people with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, relationship issues, anger management issues and self-esteem issues. Furthermore, I occasionally facilitate eating disorder groups, recovery from drug and alcohol addiction groups and sexual abuse survivor groups.

Before beginning my private practice, I served in numerous rehabilitation centers and agencies, in which I specialized in working with those who have experienced abuse (physical, sexual and verbal/emotional abuse) and working with substance/alcohol abuse addicts in the process of recovery. Through this time, I constructed a client-centered approach that is eclectic and pragmatic. This means my approach is customized to the client?s needs, as opposed to being tied to a specific theoretical paradigm.

In terms of education, I attended University of Miami for a BA in Psychology, as well as my Masters (MS) and Doctoral (PhD) Psychology degrees at Florida International University. In addition to having my degree as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am a Qualified Supervisor within the State of Florida. This means I can offer supervision to those mental health counselors who are pursuing licensure in Florida. Moreover, for numerous semesters I have worked at Florida Atlantic University as an Adjunct Professor, teaching courses in psychology at the graduate level.

I am passionately committed to helping my clients! Through our work together, the ideal is that you not only meet your therapeutic goals, but also be able to sustain the changes throughout your lifetime through use of concrete tools obtained in therapy and practiced throughout our time together.
