My Approach to Helping
My Therapeutic Approach A Mindful approach to Healing and Health I am a seasoned mental health therapist offering over 25 yrs of experience in the mental health field: I take a mindful, non-judgmental approach in providing a nurturing environment for clients to identify and transform those aspects of their lives that are creating difficulties, dysfunction, and limitations. Goals for therapy often include assisting the client to experience a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy. It may involve focusing on issues or experiences that are occurring in the here and now, identifying and releasing unresolved negative beliefs that were hard wired from childhood or developed as the result of a traumatic event. I believe we are given all that we need to heal and transform our lives. It is the therapist job to assist the client in discovering their own ability to over come and resolve the issues they are confronting. Connection and attunement are essential elements to the therapeutic process. There needs to be a good fit between the therapist and the client for the environment to be conducive for trust to develop. Therapy is a collaborative experience. With out trust there is not much that can be done. I graduated with honors from the University of North Florida, Counselor Education program. I have specialized training in treating trauma, weight management,/body image issues , grief and loss. I am a consultant for the University of North Florida Counseling Center as well as for other practitioners in the community.
