I have been in private practice for over 12 years. I work mainly with adults and adolescents. My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief & loss, substance abuse/addictions and anger management. All counseling takes place in a safe, confidential and respectful environment.

I work quite a bit with addictions. I am a Certified Addictions Professional (FL), an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and I am qualified as a Substance Abuse Professional under Department of Transportation regulations.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

I believe the purpose of psychotherapy is to help solve life problems. As I am essentially a Cognitive therapist I am solution focused and try to work with my clients to explore thinking patterns. Negative thinking is depression. If we change the negative thinking, we remove a great deal of the problem. It works in somewhat the same way for anxiety and obsessive worry. Sometimes there are problems where the purpose of therapy is to have the client be authentic and assertive to increase self esteem.
