My Approach to Therapy

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, especially when you’ve been carrying a lot on your own. My goal is to create an affirming, compassionate space where you can show up as your whole self, feel genuinely understood, and talk openly about what’s happening in your life without judgment. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, self-esteem, parenting, and major life transitions. I have particular expertise in LGBTQIA+ affirming care and reproductive mental health, including infertility and family building, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, and the many emotions and transitions that can accompany the path to parenthood. My approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to you. We’ll explore what’s bringing you to therapy, identify what you’d like to change, and build on your existing strengths while developing tools that can help you move forward. I draw from evidence-based approaches while recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all way to do therapy. I offer individual therapy via telehealth and believe therapy can be a place for both support and meaningful growth—where you can better understand yourself, navigate difficult seasons, and create changes that feel authentic and sustainable.

My Practice & Services

I provide individual therapy for adults via secure telehealth. My practice is affirming and inclusive, and I welcome clients of diverse identities, backgrounds, relationships, and family structures. I offer a complimentary consultation to help us determine whether we may be a good fit before beginning therapy. Insurance and private-pay options are available; please reach out or visit the TheraRise website for current information about availability and getting started.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, including identity exploration, coming out, relationships, family dynamics, and minority stress; infertility and family building, including fertility treatment, donor conception, third-party reproduction, and surrogacy; pregnancy and prenatal mental health; postpartum adjustment and parenthood; and parenting support.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

If you’ve had a difficult or disappointing experience with therapy in the past, it makes sense to feel hesitant about trying again. You deserve a therapeutic relationship where you feel respected, heard, and able to be honest about what you need. I welcome conversations about previous therapy experiences, including what felt helpful and what didn’t, so we can work together to create an experience that feels different and more supportive.

Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance

I believe the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important parts of meaningful therapy. Feeling safe, respected, understood, and able to be yourself creates the foundation for honest exploration and growth. I approach the therapeutic relationship collaboratively and welcome open communication about what is—and isn’t—working so we can shape therapy around your needs, goals, and experiences.
