What's My Approach to Therapy?
I promote a safe environment that encourages empathy, insight, and empowerment. It is important to build a trusting relationship which will assist with working through the presenting issue(s). I utilize psychodynamic techniques which means I not only look at helping to work through what is currently not going right, but also finding the root of the issue(s). I believe the knowledge gained towards what has caused these struggles will create a longer-term change. The aim is to not just to help to fix the initial symptoms, but to also create tools to use then and in future situations.
My Practice & Services
I am not an insurance provider. Please refer to my website for further explanation. I do, however, provide the necessary paperwork to submit to insurance companies for out of network reimbursement if that applies.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
One area of expertise I have is couples/marital therapy. Couples can come to see me for relationship, marital, or pre-marital therapy to help sort out issues between them. Some issues are infidelity, communication, fertility/infertility, and parenting. Another area of expertise I have is working with men's issues. Men can sometimes struggle with relationships, family, work, and social struggles.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
The client-therapist relationship is very important to the therapeutic process. The alliance promotes trust and safety which nurtures change to occur. With a strong therapeutic alliance, the room in which therapy is provided becomes a container in which feelings and emotions can be held and worked through. With a strong therapeutic alliance no issue is too big or too small to explore and one can feel empowered for true internal change.
