My Approach to Helping

First, congratulations on deciding to get professional guidance for a relationship that must be very important to you. Chances are, you're feeling a degree of pain about that relationship right now: most likely some mixture of frustration, fear, and/or a measure of helplessness as to what to do next. So let me give you an important message: there IS help out here! We don't know it all, but we know a LOT about what it takes to build/repair a committed love relationship into something you can feel great about. Even just one willing person can do a tremendous amount to single-handedly save/repair a marriage!

With 35+ years of practice, I naturally combine several approaches in my work. Primarily, however, I utilize the only therapy I know of created for the sole purpose of helping couples build successful love relationships: Imago Relationship Therapy**.

From the start, I adopt an active role in helping couples contain their emotions while discussing tough issues. With hands-on help and armed with Imago's powerful communication tool, reactivity is often quickly and dramatically reduced, paving the way for clearer, more respectful communication. Partners reach new levels of understanding, respect and connection, often in the first session.
