My Approach to Helping
As a cognitive and dialectical behavioral, solution-focused therapist, my treatment approach is to provide support with insight and feedback to help clients address current challenges and long-standing issues. With sensitivity and compassion, I help individuals bring resolution to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues. I draw from a selection of styles and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful for each individual. Together we work to identify and build on client strengths and achieve life goals.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Many people struggle with setting clear boundaries in their lives. My work specializes in evaluating and establishing assertiveness skills. This can be done in a respectful and yet, firm way that increases self-esteem, sets healthy boundaries in personal and professional relationships and improves communication.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

I always ask my clients, "how will you know that the work we are doing is working or is finished?". Many clients come to counseling for advise, direction, feedback or confirmation of one's thoughts. While these are important questions and goals, it is my belief that clients should consider why they are asking for this information and it what way will they apply it. I believe that it is not my job to tell someone how to run their life, but to help them help themselves find these answers so they are best able to apply these self-help skills in the future. I want to know what the client wants in counseling in order to help them best. They will define their goals and ways to identify if they are effectively working towards those goals. The plan is to help them recognize their own strengths and resilience.
