My Approach to Therapy

I come from a Humanistic therapeutic approach. This means that as a counselor I provide an environment where you will receive unconditional positive regard, acceptance, and genuineness. When we work together I will hope to form a secure bond between us, where you feel safe to express your true self, thoughts, and feelings without fear of negativity or ridicule. I will always be authentic with you, meaning that I will tell you how I really think and feel, without pretenses. My belief is that the condition of authenticity creates an environment where you will feel safe to explore and experiment with new ways of being; such as changing unwanted behaviors or attitudes, emotional processing, and learning to live in line with personal values. I will provide you with accurate empathetic understanding, meaning that I will see things from your perspective. I believe that psychological interventions work best when they are tailored to foster growth and healing in the person; and the correct interventions will be developed by us working together, collaboratively, over time.

My Practice & Services

I currently work with a broad range of individuals, but I specialize in providing process-oriented talk therapy; and I work best with those looking for a gentle approach and deep listening skills. I received my Masters in Counseling Applied Psychology in 2019 from Pacific University, where I completed my practicum year at William Temple House, a non-profit in in Portland. After my graduation in 2019 I trained in behavioral interventions at Portland Anxiety Clinic and Collective Care Clinics. Then, in 2021, I opened my private practice clinic and have worked there since. If you have any questions about my background or approach, please do not hesitate to ask!

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My own struggles as an adolescent and young adult stimulated my interest in Counseling and Psychology. I come to this work with not only professional and educational experience, but the lived experience of having sought therapy for myself.
