My Approach to Helping

Whether you're a couple, an individual, or part of a poly system, I understand that your experiences and needs are as unique as you are. In my practice, I utilize a diverse range of evidence-based modalities. From dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) to acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and more, I have you covered. However, it's not just about having a variety of techniques at my disposal—it's about knowing when and how to use them to best serve you. That is where my expertise comes in. By integrating these modalities, I can effectively address a wide variety of concerns, from navigating difficult emotions to overcoming past traumas and everything in between. As a yogi, I also incorporate somatic work, bodywork, mindfulness practices, and parts work into my practice because I recognize the importance of the mind-body connection. So, whether you're looking to untangle the complexities in your relationship, confront your inner demons, or simply find more joy and fulfillment in life, I am here to help you every step of the way.

More Info About My Practice

I am Alexandra, a therapist who has experienced both sides of the healing journey, as the clinician and the client. Growing up in a conservative religious environment, I understand the challenges of reconciling personal beliefs with societal norms, particularly concerning matters of identity and relationships. My own experiences have led me to embrace inclusivity and openness in my practice. I strive to dismantle sexual stigma and shame while empowering my clients to seek fulfilling sexual experiences. Additionally, as a “white-passing” Latina, I have grappled with my multicultural identity and sense of belonging. Whether you are an individual navigating your own path, a couple facing challenges, or part of a polyamorous system exploring deeper connections, I am here to support you every step of the way. I recognize that each person's journey is unique, which is why I adopt an individualized approach to therapy. Together, we will explore your identity, life choices, and any societal norms that may be hindering you from living authentically. At the core of my practice are values such as boundary-setting, communication, and collaborative problem-solving. I am here to assist you on your healing journey, walking alongside you, modeling healthy behaviors, and providing you with the tools you need to build fulfilling relationships and lead an authentic life.

My Role as a Therapist

I am passionate about helping people not just survive but thrive. I understand that taking the step toward therapy is not always easy; it requires courage and a willingness to confront the challenges we face. The success of therapy hinges on a strong therapeutic alliance, so I aim to create a healing sanctuary where my clients can show up authentically and feel seen and heard. Together, we will explore what it truly means to thrive. We will work on building effective communication skills and address problem-solving strategies that empower you to take charge of your circumstances, regardless of how complex they may seem. I believe that every obstacle presents an opportunity for growth, and every setback serves as a stepping stone on your path to empowerment.
