My Approach to Helping
I believe we can manage the difficulties in our lives by learning to change unhelpful thoughts and beliefs and learning new behaviors to cope with life stressors. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy as a foundation for helping my clients learn to manage life's challenges to find peace and contentment. I enjoy working with clients to understand what is important for them and then work together to develop a plan for treatment.
I began my career teaching parenting and working with children and families and later worked for several years as a clinical supervisor in residential substance treatment. My career in counseling has provided me with a wealth of experience in working with a variety of challenges that people face. I have a passion for helping people understand that their problems do not define them and working together to achieve their goals.
