My Approach to Helping
We are hurt within relationships and it's within other, healthier relationships that we heal. People come to therapy with such different life histories and particular topics in mind. When I start working with someone, I try to get a sense of who they are -- their histories and formative relationships. People are complex and something important enough in your life to cause you to seek therapy, is certainly a product of more than a single variable. Growth takes place within this curious and genuine relationship, often by developing a deeper sense of the themes or patterns in your life, what is unchangeable, how you understand yourself and your worth, and beliefs you have that interfere with your life.
Therapy is collaborative by nature. It is a relationship that helps provide you with the compassion and support you need to understand yourself, regain or build strength, and make the choices that you want in life.
