My Approach to Helping
Hello, this is Shannon, I’m passionate about mental health and helping others to not just survive, but thrive. Although I’ve been a licensed therapist for over 13 years, life experiences as a mom to 3 boys, a military spouse, and a Military Veteran myself, has helped evolve and shape me into the therapist that I am today. Throughout the therapeutic process, I will interweave and focus on key lifestyle factors that may be contributing to a client's current emotional state, such as dietnutrition, movement, sleep, and spirituality. In addition to active listening and providing a non-judgmental atmosphere, I will provide tools and techniques to help manage the problem(s) or symptoms.
Problems I most often work with are related to increased stress, including trauma responses, that lead to symptoms of anxiety, debilitating anxiety, depression, physical achespains, self-confidence issues, substance misuse, relationship andor occupational problems, and safety concerns. My approach to therapy and use of interventions is discussed with the client and tailored to individual needs.
Compassion, a natural ability to help people feel at ease, and personal experience of working through my own issues in therapy, are strengths that help me to cultivate a positive therapeutic experience for clients.
