My Approach to Helping
Anxiety, stress and depression rob us of the opportunity to live a happy and fulfilled life. I believe a warm, trusting and caring alliance between a client and therapist can be an incredibly healing experience. As your therapist, I will strive to create a safe space for you to explore your feelings and experiences. I use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help you build coping skills, and I rely heavily on a Client Centered approach, so you feel accepted and understood.
I have a special interest working with postpartum anxiety and depression. I believe that maternal mental health is dismissed and stigmatized in our society, and I feel passionate about helping women who may be suffering in silence. As a mother myself, I enjoy working with parents to support them in navigating the exciting (and stressful) experience of parenthood.
Furthermore, I have experience working with clients who have experienced trauma, and may be suffering from PTSD. I use techniques from an approach called Cognitive Processing Therapy, which has been shown to be helpful for people with PTSD.
Finally, I feel honoured to be doing what I love as my profession. I have always been interested in human behaviour, and why people do the things they do. As an empath, I am naturally drawn to a supportive, \'helper\' roll. I would love the chance to meet with you for a consult, to hear more about your experiences, and see if we would be a good fit.
