My Approach to Helping
My most used approach is a Person Centered Approach to Counseling. I consider Counseling as a method of healing and a way of bring balance. I believe wellness to encompass the mind, body, spirit and emotions. In regards to the client, the utmost respect is required and the counselor uses his/her "tools" to assist the individual in identifying and resolving their issues, which is the most powerful therapy one can provide.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I enjoy watching people transform through their struggles. To see them at one point in time having a sense of hopelessness and uncertainty, then gradually observing their hidden talents, strengths and empowerment blossom over the therapeutic process. The individual thanks the therapist but it was the individual doing the hard work all along. The therapist was a skillfull guide.
My Role as a Therapist
The role of a therapist is a working relationship with the individual. Both should put in the effort it takes to resolve the individual's issues and to empower them towards gradual independence from their sadness, anger, guilt and fears.
