My Approach to Helping
My therapeutic approach is person-centered. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship that is built on trust and respect is essential for successful treatment. Understanding the unique circumstances of each person in therapy is very important to the healing process. I empower the people in my care to make positive life choices and live the happy lives they desire.
More Info About My Practice
I use a variety of treatment modalities in therapy. My approach may include techniques from emotionally-focused therapy, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, narrative therapy, or systemic therapy. As each client is unique, I customize therapy sessions to the specific needs, abilities, and preferences of each person in treatment.
My Role as a Therapist
I have a bachelor?s degree in psychobiology from UCLA. I earned a master?s degree in marriage and family therapy from Alliant University. I have more than 30 years of professional experience in the mental health field. During my career, I have worked in outpatient settings as well as private practice.
I have worked as a clinical supervisor and a counselor educator for almost ten years. I love to learn and enjoy exchanging ideas with my colleagues and students. I was born and raised in California but recently moved to Idaho to improve my quality of life. I appreciate the slower pace and the beautiful countryside in Idaho. I also enjoy gardening, walking, reading, taking care of my pets, and hanging out with my family.
