My Approach to Helping
I believe that a supportive and caring therapy relationship empowers my clients to create positive change in their lives. From the many meetings I have had with people from all walks of life, I am confident that good connections to others provide us with the motivation and energy to pursue personal growth and development. In therapy, I work with my clients to examine their relationships, past and present, and determine the strengths andor difficulties these relationships have created in their present professional or personal lives. ln my work and in my own life, I believe that learning more effective relationship strategies can help us lead fuller, happier lives.
My specialties include, but are not limited to, couple's therapy, divorce, loss and grief, eating disorders, workplace stress, balancing parentingwork issues, parenting, parenting groups, group therapy and individual therapy around anxiety and depression for both men and women.
More Info About My Practice
Because I have been in practice for over 35 years, I have recently stopped working directly with insurance companies. It has become increasingly onerous as a provider to be involved in the reimbursement process.
This will also allow me to set my own individualized fees and have a sliding scale, which I will negotiate with each patient. I will provide a statement that you can directly submit to your insurance for an out-of-network benefit, if applicable. This can also be submitted by patients who have Medex as a secondary insurance to their Medicare plan. I do not believe this is true for other secondary insurance plans.
My Role as a Therapist
I consider therapy a collaboration between two experts: the patient is an expert on themselves and the therapist is an expert on people. My role is to help the patient unlock their history, discover their issues, determine what impedes their progress & help them move forward. The same is true for couples therapy with the added complexity of the couples relationship history together.
