My Approach to Helping
Welcome! My name is Natalie and I am an emotion-focused and experiential psychotherapist in private practice at Newport Couple & Family Therapy. My core belief in the therapeutic process is that healing, growth, and recovery are possible. I believe that humans are innately resilient and resourceful beings with a basic need to be in relationship to others. I emphasize healthy relationships as key in increasing self awareness, confidence, and emotional health.
My approach to psychotherapy is holistic in that I will encourage attention to your biological, psychological, social and relational development as important aspects to overall health and well-being. My personal style is client-centered and collaborative while at the same time, I will empower you to make decisions in align with your personal values and beliefs. I will strive to create an environment where we are able to explore what is most important to you. I will invite your collaboration and value your feedback.
In addition to being a therapist, I am proud to contribute to the field of marriage and family therapy by teaching and mentoring masters level therapists. I am also a doctoral student in marital and family therapy program evaluation where I research evidence based mental health programs and outcomes in order to promote safe and effective treatment for communities.
