My Approach to Helping
I am a trauma-informed therapist who believes in creating a safe and authentic space for my clients. I tend to be relaxed, informal, and professional in the hopes of creating a genuine therapeutic connection in a safe and nurturing environment. My approach to the therapeutic process utilizes a strengths perspective and a person-centered approach. I strive for authenticity and use a trauma-informed lens throughout my work.
I hope to provide treatment not only through the lens of trauma but through an understanding of power, privilege, and the awareness that our experiences are subject to the systems that we live in and dependent on the skin we’re in or the body that we are in, effects on mental health issues can be different. Understanding and practicing my self-awareness is also important to me as a therapist.
I hope that all of my clients will provide a space to move authentically towards health, healing, and connection. I am trained in EMDR, CBT, Family Systems Therapy, and Mindfulness and have over 15 years of experience working with individuals who have experienced sexual and domestic violence and anxiety, depression, and PTSD.
