My Approach to Helping

Women and children’s mental health is the focus of my counseling practice. I am a Licensed and National Board Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I’m also the mother of six in a blended family. The saying goes “If mama ain’t happy, nobody’s happy.” While that saying makes us laugh, it’s really a powerful statement about the importance of women in a family. Women are the heart of the family and their happiness or unhappiness effects everyone in the family. The fact is most women are so involved in taking care of others that they forget to take care of themselves. I want to help all women to reach their fullest potential at home, in the workplace and in relationships. I have a special interest in women’s issues such as relationships, parenting, self esteem, dating, separation, divorce, anxiety and depression just to name a few. My practice offers a warm, comfortable, safe and welcoming environment. Clients receive a free half hour consultation visit to discuss concerns and questions before beginning counseling. I accept insurance as an Out of Network Provider and offer a sliding scale fee in an effort to make counseling affordable for all.

More Info About My Practice

In addition to working with women, my practice has a children’s focus called “Baby Steps” As a therapist and educator I have worked extensively with children and teens. My work with children and teens has consisted of my work as a licensed and national board certified mental health counselor, school counselor, school educator and administrator. My past experience as a teacher and school administrator equips me to comfortably advocate for your child and navigate the school setting. I offer parents a free thirty minute consultation for sharing concerns and questions prior to beginning counseling with your child. All sessions are held via Telehealth so your child can attend sessions from the comfort of their home.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Counseling can be short term or long term depending on the needs of the client. Short term is approximately six weeks and long term is anything longer than six weeks. The client is free to end their sessions at anytime..
