My Approach to Helping
Sadness ... Fear ... Anger... Communication problems... Estranged partners... Betrayed trust... Separation ...
How we perceive ourselves, others and the world, relates to how we interact with our environment.
Increased threat anticipation, intolerance of uncertainty, lowered belief in self-efficacy and unrealistic fears are characteristic for most mental health problems; they create barriers to daily life and "rob" the individual of joy, opportunities and optimal functioning.
In my view, identifying, challenging and replacing negative thoughts, assumptions and beliefs about oneself, the others and the world can help improve how one feels, thinks, acts and restore balance in the individual's daily interactions, relationships and overall well-being.
I am a compassionate counsellor experienced with evidence-based psycho-social interventions for couples and individuals struggling with relationship issues, life transitions and mental health problems.
