My Approach to Helping
My passion centers around being able to help children and their families navigate through traumatic life experiences. Just as every person is unique, I believe that the approach to healing must also be just as unique. I have been trained in several different modalities in order to help this process: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Play Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy.
My educational background includes my Doctorate of Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Oregon University and Master of Social Work from Saint Louis University. I also have a Certificate in Violence Prevention, Adolescent Development for the Prevention of Violence in Young Adulthood from Washington University in St. Louis. I have primarily worked with children with incarcerated parents and various levels of trauma since 2010. I have written a series of children\'s books about the topic which can be found here (safersociety.orgfree-publications). I also have extensive experiencing working with and advocating for children in Special Education within the public school settings as well as providing mental health triage services within the jail system.
