My Approach to Helping
Hello, I’m Jamula (Jamalah) Taylor a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master's from the University of Phoenix in 2014. I worked in various programs to gain many different experiences i.e. working with individual males in California Corrections, women who were victims of domestic violence, adults with severe mental illnesses, individuals adults, adolescents, and children.
My therapy style can be perceived as laidback but it’s mostly due to being authentic and allowing clients to be authentic. In some cases, I can be direct but mostly once the rapport is built. I also allow the client to lead and direct therapy depending on the severity of the presenting problem. I enjoy solution-focused therapy, cognitive therapy, psychoanalytic, and dialectal behavior therapy to help individuals find solutions to many issues.
I began my journey to become a therapist while in high school due to people seeking support. While on this journey I made an effort to obtain multiple experiences with people with diverse backgrounds.
