My Approach to Therapy

As a cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapist, my goal is to help children, teenagers and young adults unearth their real potential and lead lives that are more peaceful, enjoyable, and worth celebrating. Though we can't change troubling situations from the past, we can work collaboratively to better understand and resolve challenges in your own child's life or inside your family system. By utilizing complementary therapy techniques and approaches, we will uncover negative perceptions or behavior patterns that may be preventing your child or teen from experiencing a more meaningful and fulfilling life, as well as support a shift in behavioral and emotional expression that will enable the individual's positive nature and true strengths to thrive. I believe that everyone has the ability to change and improve, and I hope to take part in you or your family's positive journey toward empowerment, wellbeing, and growth.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

None of us, as children, adult or parents, come with directions on how to effectively cope with all the struggles that life has for us. Sometimes things can become overwhelming and the ways in which we have chosen to cope in the past are no longer working. My goal is to help all my clients, regardless of their age, feel more empowered to deal with these difficulties and eventually truly feel relief from the emotional pain that has caused them to seek therapy. Seeking therapy does not mean weakness. It means you have the desire to improve, change and grow into a more successful person with a more meaningful and enjoyable future.

Groups I Work With

Although I see many areas of concern in my practice, I specialize in children with anxiety and teens who engage in self-harming or suicidal depression. I also work closely with parents and family members of these children to help them best support their children through managing difficult emotions and behaviors, with the hopes of improving the family relationships. If you are a teen or young adult, I offer supportive therapy geared towards working through often challenging life transitions and finding yourself and your personal goals.
