My Approach to Helping
Elly Sanchez is a licensed professional counselor @ Confluence, LLC and has been involved in the mental health field over 15 years. She received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Alaska and her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology at Alaska Pacific University. She is currently a counselor in private practice at Confluence, LLC, working with adults and their families.
She began her career as a co-therapist running healthy adult relationship groups with adults in the community. Quickly learning that many people benefit from having support both in a traditional therapeutic setting as well as engaging in educational aspects of their personal experiences, she learned the value of creating a plan that the client can then use as a frame for how to begin to change their behavior out in their world.
When working with Elly you can often expect new skills and insights to be identified in session and to be encouraged to practice them in the community; when appropriate sessions can be scheduled out side of the traditional office setting to support the clients needs. Elly draws from a variety of clinical approaches and considers herself to be an eclectic counselor. She works to create a safe and engaging experience and aspires to be a dynamic and engaging counselor that honors strengths in the client as well as personal awakening. In addition, her goal as a counselor is to help others understand the self, and themselves within the context of their relationships so they may experience more meaningful roles both at home and in the workplace.
“Simply put, I appreciate the differences and uniqueness of all people and I love to work with people of all different backgrounds with varying goals. I also believe in the importance from taking a break from the seriousness of life so you can also expect a good laugh once we really start getting into our work together ”
