My Approach to Helping
After 35 years of treating patients, I have learned that the answers they seek lie within them, in their personal history and life experience. Therefore I consider myself to be a guide and a partner in helping individuals and couples learn how their personal history has contributed to their present day challenges. I also use their history to help them find their strengths including the fact that they sought help which not everyone has the courage to do. My approach is kind and humorous, with the intention of providing an environment where people look forward to doing the challenging work of change. My patients feel that I am a trusted companion in their journey to improving their relationships, self-worth, happiness and success.
More Info About My Practice
Patients frequently come to me after they have been in some type of short term therapy because they are looking for a more in depth approach. With my approach, the changes that my patients make are long lasting.
My Therapy Focus
I am able to work with people who are struggling with their relationships and have developed an apporach over the last 35 years which creates a powerful game plan for helping patients get their relationship back on track. Therapists who donot see couples themselves, send couples to me for treatment. I not only see couples together, but I also spend time with them individually resulting in a bigger impact on my work with them. When couples understand the roots of the issues in the relationship, they are empowered to make lasting change. I also have indepth training in the area of eating disorders where I use a team approach with an MD and a nutritionist if needed. I work with patients to help them look into their life both past and present to uncover experiences, family culture, belief systems and any other areas which may be interfering with their growth and happiness. While working through these issues I help patients develop tools for dealing with their present roadblocks.
