As a seasoned clinical social worker, marriage and family therapist and with a passion for working with couples and along with a specialty in sex therapy, my 25 years of experience being with individuals, couples, and families is deeply gratifying personally and professionally. Believing that as human beings we are " hardwired to connect "and protest when we're not being heard, understood or getting our needs met, I am committed to collaboratively working to nurture and strengthen our relationship with ourselves and with others in our lives. The importance of being present, compassionate and providing a safe space is what inspires me to help those struggling with challenges, to change and heal from stress, pain, and trauma, and to repair and enhance relationship bonds.
Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
Attachment theory-based and experiential approaches to individuals (AEDP) and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) as well as mind-body oriented psychotherapies, and evidence-based trauma-informed treatments, like EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Mindfulness-based stress reduction are influences that can be integrated and guide my work to help others.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
The heart of attachment and connection in the individual or couple-therapist relationship and the experience of being together in this work is so powerfully important. We foster hope, and believe in the inherent resilience and capacity to grow, heal and resolve trauma.
