My Approach to Helping
Treatment Approach: My treatment approach is to partner with my clients in setting goals for therapy and to collaborate with them to achieve those goals. Together the client and I will explore the challenges that may be holding them back and blocking their progress toward leading a happier, more fulfilled life. In the process of working together we will explore the effects of thoughts, beliefs, physical health, past experiences and the environment on a person’s mental well-being. I will use the most recent researched methods. My work with clients will draw from various therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavior, person-centered, trauma-focused, solution-focused, strengths-based methods and motivational interviewing.
More About Me: I have worked with children and adults for over 14 years as a school counselor. Before working in education, I was a trainer for five years, providing training to adults and children on various psycho-educational topics. I also was employed by Bell Labs as an organizational consultant. My personal experience in raising two children and supporting my kids while they make their journey into adulthood has helped me understand children and the parents’ role in their development. Parenting my kids has helped me to see how everyone is doing their best. During my spare time I enjoy riding my bicycle throughout Monmouth County, going to the movies and reading both fiction and non-fiction books.
