My Approach to Helping

Hi! I’m so glad you are here to learn a bit more about me. Picking the right therapist is such an important decision and I want you to feel confident you’ve found a great match. One of my biggest priorities is to make therapy feel good for people. I know for many, therapy can seem awkward or uncomfortable. I’m trying my best to change that narrative by allowing our time together to feel relaxed, a space where you feel like an equal. I want you to feel seen and understood anytime we work together.

My specialty is helping those who have experienced difficult seasons in life find three main things: self-awareness, balance and peace. This often includes working with topics such as tough childhood experiences, first responders, postpartum anxiety & depression, relationship issues (divorce, infidelity, parenting, peers), and sexual assault recovery.

In our sessions together we will focus on getting to know your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. We will identify where the problem spots are, and then collaborate in creating strategies you can use in your day-to-day life. Ultimately, our work can help you to find peace with the past, contentment with your present and enthusiasm for the future.

More Info About My Practice

I believe in meeting each of my clients where they are, allowing them to truly be the experts of their own lives. Empowering my clients to guide me in sharing their struggles, goals, strengths, and stories is key. This approach enables me to craft a tailored plan for each individual, leveraging their existing strengths while providing practical tools and education to enhance their overall quality of life. Creating a safe and comfortable environment in my practice is paramount; it's a space where deep trauma can be processed or where we can share laughter over the little things.

In my practice, I frequently use modalities such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, internal family systems, motivational enhancement, solution-focused, and person-centered therapy.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Illinois University and then pursued a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. I'm currently licensed in the state of Illinois as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. With over five years of professional experience, I've provided therapy in various settings, including outpatient substance abuse treatment, sexual assault centers, and private practice. This diverse experience has equipped me to work with a wide range of populations, including children, adolescents, and adults from various backgrounds. My therapeutic expertise spans treating drug and alcohol addiction, self-harm, anxiety, depression, sexual assault, ADHD, relationship issues, parenting, life changes, self-esteem, body image, bipolar disorder, and trauma.
