What's My Approach to Therapy?
My approach to helping people is deeply rooted in creating a safe and nurturing space. Drawing from an eclectic palette of modalities, including the intuitive use of resonance in therapy, I have developed a keen understanding of how to co-create this safety. This understanding allows us to explore the root causes of your issues, providing a secure environment for healing.
I primarily utilize a somatic therapy lens and completed the 3-year Somatic Experiencing trauma therapy program in 2018. Since completing my Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) training, I have assisted in teaching new students in the program, and recently became a lead assistant in the local Somatic Experiencing trauma therapy trainings in Illinois.
My approach is not limited to somatic therapy. I also incorporate compassion inquiry, a therapeutic process created by Dr. Gabor Maté, which I completed in 2021. With a master’s degree in art therapy and counseling, I bring a unique blend of somatic therapy, art therapy, and compassion inquiry to the table. This unique combination is also the focus of a workshop I designed and teach at local graduate programs in the Chicago area.
I also have several trainings completed that taught me the power of somatic touch in the therapy space. I have a massage table I can use for those open to incorporating somatic touch therapy in their journey. For more information on the power of touch therapy, see here: https://life-care-wellness.com/what-is-se-touch, and feel free to explore this practice's website, as they are also well versed in somatic therapy.
If you sense that you are having reactions to everyday stress that feel inflated, these modalities are helpful, comfortable ways to explore the inflation with a curious lens. If you sense that unresolved trauma or recent trauma is one of the sources of your ongoing pain, how I work in the therapy space using the bottom-up modalities that I do would be ideal for helping you work through these difficult symptoms.
