My Approach to Helping

My approach to helping starts with empathy and kindness. One of my favorite phrases that is a foundation for my practice is Unconditional Positive Regard. Everyone has positive qualities and something to offer the world. My work includes enhancing those qualities and having empathy for those aspects of your life that may not have worked out the way you hoped. I believe in helping others find a more productive, satisfying, and enjoyable life.

I have the ability to be open and curious for those who need it and I also am able to teach strong skill building techniques that work! What I have found is that each person has unique needs from his/her therapist so part of our work together is about figuring out the best way to help you make progress and changes that you want for yourself. Finding the right therapist is very important and I hope I am that for you, but if not that is okay and I encourage you to keep searching until you have found the right therapist for you. I currently see clients on Saturdays only. Please inquire available time slots.

I typically see clients on a weekly basis depending on the number of the session and whether or not we are planning to do a process session using EMDR. My practice includes clients who are interested in short term and long term therapy. I offer a variety of approaches and will guide you through what will be most supportive for your particular needs. You will benefit the most from the sessions by being open, honest, and invested. I offer experiential "homework" for those who are interested and this can also increase the effectiveness of the therapy. Please ask questions, be curious, and don't be afraid to speak your mind about your experience!

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

A specific skill that I am trained to provide is Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing or EMDR. This is a highly effective technique to help those who may have experienced traumas in the past. This technique is profoundly helpful for a great deal of issues and I have witnessed many clients make lasting changes in their lives after EMDR sessions.

For those who are interested in learning the brain science behind EMDR, I would be glad to talk about it in session as sessions proceed. In general, after EMDR the trauma that we process will no longer dominate your experience and you will be free to live your life to the fullest. The lessons to be learned from EMDR sessions go beyond the therapy room and can be used for future situations out in the world.
