My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia and Washington, D.C. with over ten years of experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, young adults, couples and families. I have worked in community-based settings such as schools, hospitals, and foster care programs as well as private practice settings.
I believe strongly in the mind body connection and as such employ a wide range of therapeutic interventions that address both the mind and the body’s responses to external stimuli and internal narratives. I thoroughly enjoy the journey of learning how each individual heals and what tools are needed to facilitate that process. I am highly trained in directive and non-directive play therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Additionally, I am a Reiki II practitioner and a Registered Yoga Teacher with the ability to provide healing techniques for the mind, body, and spirit.
It is my objective to provide a comfortable, safe atmosphere that lends itself to building a strong therapeutic rapport. I look forward to working collaboratively throughout the therapeutic process to develop goals and work toward reaching your vision of personal success, peace and harmony.
