My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia and Washington, D.C. with over ten years of experience providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, young adults, couples and families. I have worked in community-based settings such as schools, hospitals, and foster care programs as well as private practice settings.
I believe strongly in the mind body connection and as such employ a wide range of therapeutic interventions that address both the mind and the body’s responses to external stimuli and internal narratives. I thoroughly enjoy the journey of learning how each individual heals and what tools are needed to facilitate that process. Interventions I like to pull from are directive and non-directive play therapy, sand tray therapy, bibliotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, attachment theory, psychodynamic approach, emotionally focused therapy, solution focused therapy, and motivational interviewing.
Additionally, I am a Reiki II practitioner and am in the process of earning my Yoga Teacher Trainer certificate in order to provide healing techniques for the mind, body, and spirit.
It is my objective to provide a comfortable, safe atmosphere that lends itself to building a strong therapeutic rapport. I look forward to working collaboratively throughout the therapeutic process to develop goals and work toward reaching your vision of personal success.
