My Approach to Helping

You don't have to talk about it. You don't have to keep on living like this either. You are tired of rehashing the past and keeping it alive in the present. Traditional talk therapy hasn't worked for you. You are in dire need for change - to move on and find healing for your future. Sometimes life is too big of a burden to carry all on your own, and my role is to share that weight with you. I'm here to walk with you every step of the way as you embark on this journey towards freedom.

More Info About My Practice

Come as you are. The walls of my therapy room are a safe space where you can be yourself. It is a judgment free zone. You can take off the mask you have to hide behind so much of the time. You are given the space and allowance to just be you. You don't have to be put together, and I definitely don't expect you to be perfect. There is never a "right" or "wrong" time to go to therapy, the best time is now - so come as you are.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have extensive experience (here in Orange County as well as cross-cultural counseling experience in Kenya) working with those who have walked through traumatic life experiences, those living with HIV/AIDS, those struggling with addiction and substance abuse, and college students struggling with identity issues and self-harm behaviors.

My husband and I specialize in couples therapy together as a couple, and understand how trauma affects relationships. For more information on our couples practice, please visit:

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

Going to therapy does not mean you are weak or flawed, in fact, it means the complete opposite. The most courageous thing you can do is ask for help. The best thing you can do for yourself, for your family, for your friends, and for your career is take care of yourself. Asking for help is a difficult and humbling experience, but the outcome is more rewarding than the alternative. You won't regret taking the first step towards the flourishing and fulfilling life that is waiting for you.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I do not believe in labeling people. We all have our own struggles and weaknesses, but those are not our core identity. We are much more than that. Why should we slap on labels for people to wear that proclaim their biggest struggles in life? All labels do is work to defeat our strengths, accomplishments, passions, and goodness. Some of you have been wearing a label for so long that you can't even remember those positive qualities you once possessed. You've lost sight of who you really are. But let me say this: YOU ARE NOT YOUR PAST TRAUMA. YOU ARE NOT YOUR DIAGNOSIS. YOU ARE NOT YOUR WEAKNESS. YOU ARE NOT YOUR STRUGGLES. YOU ARE NOT YOUR FAILURES. No. You are so much more than any label that's been given to you. This might not make sense right now but the worse your labels read, the stronger you are inside. Together we can peel off those labels that you've been wearing for far too long to uncover your true identity. Find out who you really are!
