My Approach to Helping
Tired of negative thoughts dragging you down? Fed up of feeling stressed? Weary of constant worrying? Frustrated with feeling down? Then let's talk. As your therapist I can help you feel calmer, more positive, and in charge of things. You'll also gain an understanding of how the events and relationships you've experienced have shaped who you are today.
My approach to helping is two pronged - I will teach you specific tools to use right in the moment when you're experiencing stress, panic, or worry. This will help you learn to cope better with everyday life stressors and feel more confident and in control into the future. I will also help you go deeper to help make the positive changes stick. We'll explore all parts of your life, past and present, to see what may have contributed to how you're feeling now. Then we'll work on ways to heal from past events or relationships to help you become the person you were always meant to be.
More Info About My Practice
When we meet you'll see that I'm not the type to sit in silence. Rather, I ask questions, make comments, give suggestions, and may even set homework. I use a combination of mindfulness, emotionally focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and EMDR for truly effective therapeutic work. You can search online for information on EMDR and its effectiveness in treating anxiety and depression, and more. Therapy is quite a journey but you'll learn more about yourself in the process.
When we speak you'll also hear my British accent as I'm originally from London.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I am genuinely interested in people and discovering what makes them who they are. I enjoy the challenge of finding out what makes a person tick and identifying the best way to help them achieve their goals.
Since getting trained in EMDR I have been able to see how quickly people can make huge progress in their healing. I love being able to offer such a truly effective therapy for people.
