What's My Approach to Therapy?

Are you feeling tired of carrying the weight of anxiety, sadness, or old wounds that never seem to fully heal? Maybe you’ve been stuck in the same relationship patterns, struggling with self-criticism, or feeling like no matter what you try, it’s never enough. You might even feel alone in your pain, unsure if anyone will truly understand what you’ve been through. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone - and you don’t have to go through it by yourself.

Therapy can be a place to gently set down what you’ve been carrying and begin to look at it with compassion. Together, we’ll work on finding meaningful relief today, while also uncovering and addressing why your symptoms began in the first place.

So often, today’s struggles are connected to earlier experiences—moments when your needs weren’t met, relationships that left you hurt, or stories about yourself that you’ve held onto for years. By making sense of how those experiences shaped the way you see yourself and others, we can begin to open the door to new patterns of healing, freedom, and connection.

My approach is relational and attachment-based, which means that I pay close attention to your unique story and the relationships that have shaped you. I specialize in supporting people who are navigating trauma, shame, disconnection, and painful cycles that feel hard to break. Above all, my goal is to offer a safe, compassionate space where you can feel truly seen and supported.

If you’re ready to take a step toward healing, I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone or video consultation so we can connect and see if this feels like the right fit for you. I would be honored to hear your story!

About Nicole

Nicole earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and a B.A. in Psychology from Concordia University, Irvine. Her graduate studies emphasized psychodynamic treatment approaches, systems theory, and psycho-spiritual integration. She currently works under the supervision of Dr. Brett Veltman (PSY 21684).

She has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds through her training at Vanguard University, Seaside Psychotherapy, Azusa’s Community Counseling Center, and at elementary and middle schools within the Azusa Unified School District. Her clinical and research interests include developmental trauma, attachment wounding, and somatic integration.

Nicole is currently completing Level I training through the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a body-based therapeutic approach that promotes holistic healing by addressing not only the emotional and cognitive effects of trauma, but also the ways trauma is carried and expressed in the body. Nicole is eager to integrate this deeper understanding of the body and nervous system’s responses to trauma in order to better support lasting relief from developmental trauma.

My Practice & Services

At Relate Therapy Center, we provide relational therapy for individuals, couples, and families. We help people grow and heal so they can live better lives and have better relationships. Not only do we specialize in working with relational issues, but we also believe that a critical part of the healing process involves the relationship between therapist and client. It’s very important that you feel like your therapist is able to understand you, your struggles, and can partner with you in the process of change.

Each therapist at Relate has training and experience with integrating psychology and spirituality in psychotherapy. While our training has primarily been focused on integrating Christian theology with psychology, we work with people from all faith backgrounds. Additionally, we focus on religiousspiritual issues in therapy if that is an important part of our clients' lives. If religionspirituality is not an important area of focus, it will not be a focus of treatment.

We desire to work with diverse clientele. Each therapist reduces their fees for a portion of their caseload to ensure that people from different financial backgrounds are able to afford and benefit from therapy. We also work to build relationships with community organizations—schools, churches, work places, etc—to serve as a resource and participate in the healing of hurting people and broken relationships.

We offer Individual Therapy, Couples Therapy, Intensive Therapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy, Teletherapy, Premarital Therapy, Psychological Assessments, and Group Therapy.
