My Approach to Helping
Therapy is as individual as the person coming in for help. I just do not believe there’s only one way you help all people. I think instead a good therapist is responsible for listening intently and creating a plan with the client that is specialized to each specific client. It is imperative that trust is formed and the client is heard. With those two things in place, all things then become possibilities. I see that as the foundation needed for success.
I personally began my own therapy over two decades ago. It changed my life radically and for the better. So much so I went back to school and got my licensure to help others. I still today continue doing my own work and probably always will.
I don’t see therapy as a quick fix but rather a learned skill set that all of us can and should use throughout our lives. I think the ultimate goal that brings the greatest pay off is growing your understanding of yourself. Which of course is a process that can last as long as you want or need it to. That is your call entirely.
I don’t think I have all the answers for you. Instead I see you as the expert on you. My job is to help you find those answers. I’m here to do the digging and excavating and you’re responsible for setting the goals and telling me how to help you. We are partners in this and I approach your therapy with that always in the forefront of my mind.
