My Approach to Helping
You don’t seem to have an interest in anything anymore. Motivation is gone, and you aren't enjoying life like you feel you should. Purpose and direction have disappeared. The world feels dull, you feel disconnected, and it is hard to see a path toward a valued and meaningful future. Others seem to be "living life", and you want to be able to do the same, but can’t. Something's in the way. This feeling may have come about after a dramatic change in your life- a loss of a relationship, role, or life situation. Or, it may feel as if this is coming from nowhere, with no rhyme or reason. “I have no reason to be unhappy, but I can’t help it."
You're likely here because you're stuck in some way. Therapy gives you the space to explore the many different aspects of your experience that may be contributing to the current way you feel. When the therapy process is working well, you are able to develop insight, increase self-understanding, and grow in ways that will create lasting change in your life.
To not be living the life you want to be living can be a painful experience whether you're "clinically depressed", "clinically anxious", or not. To feel as if you can not “figure it out” or “make yourself” feel better is frustrating and can make you wonder if things will ever change. There can be a relief, and I can help you put the pieces together.
