My Approach to Helping
You're likely here because you're stuck in some way. Others seem to be "living life" in the way you wish you could, but can’t. Something's in the way. This feeling may have come about after a dramatic change in your life- a loss of a relationship, role, or life situation. Or, it may feel as if this is coming from nowhere, with no rhyme or reason. “I have no reason to be feeling this way, but I can’t help it." Often, beginning to understand exactly what is going on for you can be an incredibly meaningful experience in and of itself.
Whether you are experiencing anxious or depressive symptoms, there are often root causes or experiences contributing to the way you feel. We have all been shaped by our past experiences, and at times, these experiences need to be revisited in order to work through their effects in the present. That being said, therapy with me will be past, present, and future focused. The aim is to help you build life-enriching inner resources that will continue to foster your flourishing well after you are ready to leave therapy. We will not be after temporary results with surface-level fixes, but after deep growth that is lasting and meaningful.
To not be living the life you want to be living can be a painful experience whether you're "clinically depressed", "clinically anxious", or not.
