My Approach to Helping
There is no wrong reason to seek therapy, what’s important is that you’re here. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I have a variety of experiences as I have worked in addiction services, a day treatment center, and outpatient therapy conducting individual and group therapy counseling sessions with adolescents and adults.
Currently, I primarily work with folks on matters relating to gender, sexuality, trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and adjusting to various life events. I believe that you are the expert on your life, so I primarily utilize a compassion-focused, strengths-based approach, with the intention of helping you feel empowered to make the best decisions for yourself.
I also integrate other techniques, including mindfulness, affirmations, metaphorsimagery, humor, and challenging cognitive distortions depending on where you are in your journey. As a queer person, I know that safe spaces can be difficult to find, so my main goal is to provide a safe space for you to feel comfortable to process life’s difficulties. I am grateful to potentially have the honor of hearing your story and walking alongside you for a part of your journey.
