My Approach to Helping

My priority is to create a safe, supportive and collaborative space where the issues that are troubling you can be explored and worked on together. My approach is eclectic, attuned and client-centered, tailored to meet the needs of each individual or couple I work with.

Life at times can seem difficult, uncertain, even overwhelming. It can feel difficult to cope. You may have experienced a painful loss, or feel empty or stuck. You may long for a relationship, or wish that the one you have were not troubled, contentious or unfulfilled. You may be in the midst of a major transition, wishing to achieve something new but unable to take the first steps. You may be experiencing painful symptoms of anxiety or depression, making you feel isolated and alone. Together we can uncover and transform repetitive, unproductive behavior patterns to help you find a path to change that promotes growth, alleviates painful symptoms, and expands your sense of choice and freedom.

I believe that each individual is unique, valuable, and deserving of personalized attention and care. My therapeutic style is warm, interactive and accepting. I consider it a privilege to engage with clients of diverse cultures, races, ethnicity, genders and sexual orientations.

More Info About My Practice

I work with adults of all ages, from college students to older adults, providing both individual and couples therapy.

I am passionate about understanding and supporting each person from within their own unique perspective. I approach therapeutic work from a multi-faceted orientation. I have studied Spanish and French for over 30 years and lived abroad as part of my education. I gained a powerful understanding of how it feels to be different from the norm while learning to find my way in a new world. My belief is that we all share this sense of being different from those around us, at times, as we grow through all the stages of our lives.

I also bring decades of experience as a poet, performer and writer to my work, deepening a lifelong investigation into what makes us human, what moves us and fuels our dreams, what tests us to the limit, what enables us to search for meaning, to cope and to heal. This awareness infuses my work with each client or couple I see.
